This small size pill tin would have been carried by a regimental First Assistant Surgeon on the field in a regimental kidney shaped pannier or in a haversack. In either case the medical officer would have been 100-500 feet from the firing line performing triage on patients.

It measures 1 x 1 x 3 1/2”
